Classification and Applications of Plate and Frame Air Filters
Plate and frame air filters are mainly divided into three categories: primary filters, medium-efficiency filters, and high-efficiency filters.
The main differences between them lie in the filter material and filtration area.
Primary Filters
1. Disposable Cardboard Frame Filters
These filters use a cardboard frame and folded synthetic fiber filter media. They have good moisture resistance, a large airflow capacity due to the folded design, a large filtration area, and low initial resistance.
The filtration efficiency of cardboard filters is G3, G4, and F5. They are suitable for air filtration in return air systems with low pollution levels and are not suitable for fresh air filtration.

2. Washable Non-woven Fabric Filters
The filter frame uses an aluminum casing, and the filter media is made of folded non-woven fabric. They have a large filtration area and high dust holding capacity. This type of filter is suitable for fresh air filtration with high dust levels.
These filters can be washed directly with water. The filtration efficiency is G3, G4, F5, and F6. Note: After washing, remove moisture and dry before use.

3. Washable Metal Filter Element Filters
The filter media of these filters uses aluminum mesh or stainless steel mesh. Metal filter elements have a large dust holding capacity, a robust structure,
and a large airflow capacity, and can be washed directly with water. They are used as a primary filter in areas with severe air pollution.
Installing a pre-filter can significantly extend the service life of subsequent medium-efficiency and high-efficiency filters.
Medium-Efficiency Filters
1. Bag-type Medium-Efficiency Filters
Bag-type medium-efficiency filters are the most common type of filter in ventilation and air conditioning systems.
Common filtration efficiencies are F5-F8. They have good airtightness, stable performance, high airflow capacity, and a long service life.
They are used in return air systems and purification air conditioning units with low pollutant levels and are not suitable for fresh air filtration.

High-Efficiency Filters
These filters use galvanized steel or aluminum alloy frames, hot-melt adhesive, fiberglass thread separators, and polyurethane sealant.
The filter media uses glass fiber filter paper, offering high efficiency, low resistance, and a large filtration area.
