Explosion-Protected Dust Collector for Biomass Fuel Handling - LEFILTER Solution
Product Introduction:
LEFILTER's baghouse systems for biomass handling are built for the triple threat of abrasion, combustibility, and fibrous materials. The filter house is constructed with abrasion-resistant steel plates at critical inlet areas and features a robust, reinforced design. We equip these systems with Type 1, Div. 2 electrical components as standard and integrate comprehensive explosion protection measures as required by NFPA 68/69. This includes correctly sized explosion vent panels ducted to a safe location, flame-arresting and isolation valves on inlet/outlet ducts, and often an integrated spark detection and extinguishing system. The filter bags are selected for durability against the abrasive nature of wood and agricultural dust.
Application Area:
This equipment is vital for biomass-fired power generation plants and large-scale pellet producers. From the moment biomass (wood chips, sawdust, agricultural residues) is received, through size reduction via hammer mills or shredders, drying, and conveying to the boiler silos, it generates vast quantities of highly combustible dust. This dust is fibrous, can smolder, and is highly explosive. A single spark from a foreign metal object or a hot bearing can trigger a devastating primary explosion, which may dislodge accumulated dust and cause a secondary explosion of far greater magnitude. Controlling this dust in a safe manner is non-negotiable.

Our Solution:
LEFILTER provides engineered safety. We don't just sell a filter; we conduct a hazard analysis (DHA) of your fuel handling process to identify risk areas. Our dust collectors are then custom-designed with the appropriate level of explosion protection. We ensure proper grounding and bonding throughout the system to dissipate static electricity. The cleaning system is designed to prevent excessive dust accumulation on the filter bags. Hopper design includes high-level indicators and mass-flow discharge aids to prevent blockages. Our solution ensures that dust is collected efficiently from crushers, transfer points, and silo vents, while actively mitigating the risk of a catastrophic dust explosion, protecting your personnel and your multi-million dollar investment.
