How Many Types of Dust Filter Bags Are There for Boiler Baghouse Dust Collectors?

Boiler baghouse dust collectors are mainly used to treat boiler flue gas, which has the characteristics of high temperature, high humidity, high dust concentration and slight corrosion. The types of dust filter bags are divided according to material, structure and functional characteristics, and the common types are 6 categories, which can be selected according to the boiler type (coal-fired, biomass, waste incineration) and flue gas parameters (temperature, humidity, dust characteristics). The detailed classification is as follows:

 1. Polyester Filter Bags (Normal-Temperature Type)
Material: Polyester (PET) needle felt, optional water-repellent and oil-repellent coating.
Key performance: Long-term temperature resistance ≤130℃, short-term ≤150℃; dust removal efficiency ≥99.5%; good air permeability and cost-effectiveness; poor high-temperature and corrosion resistance.
Applicability: Small and medium-sized normal-temperature boilers (such as small coal-fired boilers, hot water boilers), flue gas temperature ≤130℃, low dust concentration, no corrosion, low humidity.
Common types: Ordinary polyester needle felt bags, polyester water-repellent oil-repellent needle felt bags.

 2. PPS Filter Bags (Medium-High Temperature Type, Most Commonly Used)
Material: PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) needle felt, optional anti-static, water-repellent and oil-repellent coating.
Key performance: Long-term temperature resistance 160-180℃, short-term ≤200℃; dust removal efficiency ≥99.9%; good moisture resistance and slight corrosion resistance; balanced performance and cost-effectiveness.
Applicability: Most medium and high-temperature boilers, such as biomass boilers, coal-fired power plant boilers, waste incineration boilers (flue gas temperature 120-180℃), high humidity and slight corrosion.
Common types: Ordinary PPS needle felt bags, PPS anti-static needle felt bags, PPS water-repellent oil-repellent needle felt bags.

 3. FMS (Fluorine Meis) Filter Bags (High-Temperature Wear-Resistant Type)
Material: Composite needle felt composed of glass fiber, PTFE and other fibers.
Key performance: Long-term temperature resistance 180-200℃, short-term ≤220℃; dust removal efficiency ≥99.9%; excellent wear resistance and slight corrosion resistance; better toughness than glass fiber bags.
Applicability: High-temperature, high-abrasion boiler flue gas, such as large coal-fired boilers, waste incineration boilers (flue gas temperature 180-200℃), high dust concentration and strong abrasion.
Common types: Ordinary FMS needle felt bags, FMS anti-static needle felt bags.

 4. PTFE Filter Bags (High-Temperature Corrosion-Resistant Type)
Material: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) needle felt or PTFE coated composite needle felt.
Key performance: Long-term temperature resistance 200-260℃, short-term ≤280℃; dust removal efficiency ≥99.99%; excellent corrosion resistance and moisture resistance; good anti-adhesion performance.
Applicability: High-temperature, strong corrosion boiler flue gas, such as waste incineration boilers, chemical waste boilers (flue gas temperature 200-260℃), strong acid and alkali corrosion, high humidity and viscous dust.
Common types: Ordinary PTFE needle felt bags, PTFE coated composite bags (PPS+PTFE).

5. Glass Fiber Filter Bags (High-Temperature Low-Cost Type)
Material: Glass fiber needle felt, optional silicone or PTFE coating.
Key performance: Long-term temperature resistance ≤260℃, short-term ≤280℃; dust removal efficiency ≥99.5%; low cost; poor toughness, easy to break, poor wear resistance.
Applicability: High-temperature boilers with low dust concentration and no strong abrasion, such as high-temperature industrial boilers (flue gas temperature 200-260℃), low dust concentration (<500g/m³), no strong abrasion.

6. Composite Filter Bags (Special Type)
Material: Composite of two or more materials, combining the advantages of various materials.
Common types and characteristics:
1. PPS+PTFE composite bags: The base cloth is PPS material, and the surface is coated with PTFE film. It combines the high-temperature resistance and cost-effectiveness of PPS with the corrosion resistance and anti-adhesion of PTFE. Long-term temperature resistance 160-180℃, short-term up to 220℃, suitable for medium-high temperature, slight corrosion and high-humidity boiler flue gas (such as biomass boilers, coal-fired boilers with high sulfur content).
2. Glass fiber+PTFE composite bags: The base cloth is glass fiber, and the surface is coated with PTFE. It improves the toughness and corrosion resistance of glass fiber bags, avoids brittle fracture, long-term temperature resistance ≤260℃, suitable for high-temperature, low-abrasion and slightly corrosive boiler flue gas.
3. Polyester+PPS composite bags: Suitable for boilers with fluctuating flue gas temperature (100-180℃), combining the cost-effectiveness of polyester at normal temperature and the high-temperature resistance of PPS, suitable for small and medium-sized boilers with unstable operating conditions.
Applicability: Special working conditions that require comprehensive performance (such as temperature fluctuation, simultaneous existence of corrosion and humidity), which can make up for the defects of single-material filter bags and ensure stable operation.

Selection Tips for Boiler Baghouse Filter Bags
When selecting filter bags for boiler baghouse dust collectors, the core is to match the flue gas parameters and boiler type:
- For small normal-temperature boilers (≤130℃): Choose polyester filter bags (ordinary or water-repellent oil-repellent type) for cost savings.
- For most medium-high temperature boilers (120-180℃): PPS filter bags are the first choice, with balanced performance and cost-effectiveness.
- For high-temperature boilers (180-200℃) with high dust concentration and strong abrasion: FMS filter bags are preferred for excellent wear resistance.
- For high-temperature (200-260℃) and strong corrosion boilers: PTFE filter bags or PTFE composite bags are selected to resist acid and alkali erosion.
- For special working conditions (temperature fluctuation, simultaneous corrosion and humidity): Composite filter bags are recommended to meet comprehensive performance requirements.

In addition, the filter bag specifications (length, diameter, weight) should match the model of the boiler baghouse dust collector, ensuring tight installation and uniform air flow, avoiding dust leakage and local wear caused by improper matching.
