What Dust Collector Is Used for Welding Fume?
Welding fume is a kind of fine dust generated during welding operations, which is mainly composed of metal particles (such as iron, manganese, chromium), smoke and harmful gases (such as ozone, nitrogen oxides). It has the characteristics of small particle size (≤1μm), light weight, easy floating and harmfulness to human health. The selection of dust collectors for welding fume should focus on high efficiency, flexibility and small volume, and the commonly used types are as follows:
1. Mobile Welding Fume Dust Collector (Preferred for Single Station)
It is the most commonly used equipment for welding fume treatment, with the advantages of flexible movement, small volume and convenient use, which is suitable for single welding station or mobile welding operations.
Key characteristics: Equipped with a flexible suction arm (adjustable angle and length, can be aligned with the welding fume generation point), the suction hood is close to the welding point (distance ≤20cm) to capture welding fume efficiently; the internal adopts a small pulse bag filter or cartridge filter, with a dust removal efficiency of ≥99.9%, which can capture ultra-fine welding fume particles; the fan is small in size, low in noise (≤75dB(A)), and can be moved freely according to the welding position.
Applicability: Single welding station, mobile welding (such as workshop maintenance, small batch welding production).
2. Centralized Welding Fume Dust Collector (Preferred for Multiple Stations)
Suitable for workshops with multiple welding stations (such as large-scale welding production lines), which adopts centralized collection and unified purification.
Key characteristics: Each welding station is equipped with a fixed suction hood or suction arm, connected to the centralized dust collector through pipelines; the dust collector adopts a pulse bag filter with high efficiency (≥99.9%), and the filter bags are made of anti-static or high-efficiency materials to avoid welding fume adhesion; the air volume is large, which can meet the treatment needs of multiple stations at the same time; it is equipped with an automatic ash discharge system, which reduces manual maintenance.
Applicability: Multiple welding stations, large-scale welding production (such as automobile manufacturing, steel structure welding).
3. High-Efficiency Cartridge Dust Collector (Preferred for Fine Welding Fume)
For welding fume with ultra-fine particles (≤0.5μm) or high requirements for emission standards, high-efficiency cartridge dust collectors are more suitable.
Key characteristics: The filter element adopts PTFE coated material, with a dust removal efficiency of ≥99.99%, which can capture ultra-fine welding fume particles; the filter element has good anti-adhesion performance, avoiding welding fume adhesion and blockage; the structure is compact, small in volume, and suitable for workshops with limited space.
Applicability: Precision welding, welding of harmful metals (such as manganese, chromium), occasions with strict emission requirements.
Selection Notes
1. Dust removal efficiency: Must reach ≥99.9% to meet the environmental protection standard and protect the health of operators. 2. Flexibility: For mobile welding, choose a mobile dust collector; for fixed multiple stations, choose a centralized dust collector. 3. Filter material: Select filter bags/elements with good anti-adhesion performance (such as PTFE coated) to avoid welding fume adhesion and blockage. 4. Harmful gas treatment: If the welding fume contains a large amount of harmful gases, an activated carbon adsorption device can be added to the dust collector to adsorb harmful gases and ensure emission compliance.
